Overview: If there was ever a place that made you feel like you were approaching an adventure, this is it.  If you fly in, and depending on tides, your plane will either land on the beach one side of the lodge, or in the wild bush on the other side.  Both will leave you slightly breathless and yet it is not until you see the accommodation perched on top of the sand dunes that you know you have arrived somewhere remarkable.  The dunes themselves are stunning but it is the remoteness of Delta Dunes that distinguishes it.  Here you really can walk down a 20-mile stretch of beach and not see another tourist.

The design of the lodge is distinct and joins simple luxury with comfort in a sympathetic way, often described as ‘Chic Castaway’.  There are steep paths and steps to the rooms, pool and dining area, which is perched right on top of the main dune. Delta Dunes makes the most of its beautiful setting with spectacular views from every angle over the dunes themselves, the Indian Ocean, the deserted beach, the estuary or the Delta wetlands.

The rooms are open thatched cottages, with huge double beds and mosquito nets. The interiors are beautifully dressed using authentic safari styles that make you feel like you are sleeping outside, whilst safe in your room.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy including creek fishing, boat trips, kayaking, sand yachting, boogie boarding and walks over the dunes or along the 35kms of untouched, deserted beach.

The staff and managers are attentive but also respectful of your privacy and the time you need to unwind.  The lodge feels spacious and without boundaries.  You’ll enjoy the freedom of walking around the lodge from the pool area, to your room, down to the main eating area or through the dunes to the unoccupied beach.

Delta Dunes earns it’s name as ‘The Wild Place by the Sea” but offers genuine comfort, quality food and good service in a location you won’t find any where else in Kenya.

If you are looking for a unique experience this is an exciting place offering something in between a safari and a beach holiday.
