Overview: Msambweni is an oasis in the midst of the tropical forest that flanks the coast, south of Mombasa. Away from the madding crowd, this elegantly designed, white washed house and private villas offer tranquility for the small number of guests lucky enough to find themselves here. Located on a remote stretch of private beach, built on top of 40-foot high cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean, in 28 acres of private land, Msambweni is exclusive with a personal feel which comes from being family owned and managed. The atmosphere is serene and relaxing and from the moment you arrive you’ll have a sense of repose and peacefulness. You’ll find yourself speaking in whispered voices, slowing down, unwinding and soaking up the natural beauty that surrounds you.
The main house offers top end accommodation in spacious suites with large double beds made up with pure white cotton. Each has a private verandah which looks down on the magnificent infinity pool which itself overlooks the ocean. The combination of white from the building’s walls and blues from the pool, sea and sky is both beautiful and captivating. For a truly spectacular holiday we recommend the two private villas set away from the main house. These are designed and finished to be in keeping with everything else and so are luxurious in an uncomplicated way, complete with air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Each has its own entrance, garden, swimming pool and jacuzzi and you’ll not regret the decision to stay here when you are sitting on your private terrace, waited on by the villa’s own staff and personal cook.
A walkway curls through the grounds and down to the private beach, which is backed by towering rocks and makes good use of the indigenous trees and little alcoves to offer a further sense of privacy while you rest and relax. Place your beach beds anywhere along this stretch of white sandy beach, in sun or shade, and watch the day drift by. There’s even a hut here so you don’t have to go back up the steps to enjoy a massage, pedicure or manicure.
If you feel the need for some activity there a many that can be organised including snorkeling, deep sea fishing, windsurfing and mountain biking.
Mealtimes are an experience in their own right. In the morning the staff will discuss your food preference for that day. The choice is extensive and features fresh fish and produce from the local area. At night, Msambweni can arrange private eating areas along the shore where you can enjoy an undisturbed, intimate meal served by personal waiters as you watch the moon rise over the sea and feel the night sea breeze.
Msambweni House & Villas offer a relaxing and intimate place to unwind after a safari and is ideal for couples looking for romantic, lazy days by the beach in beautiful surroundings.
